Arms and ammunition recovered from hill and valley districts in joint operations

In a series of successful joint operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police and other security forces, recovered weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and ammunition from both hill and valley regions in the districts of Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur and Tengnoupal between November 4 and November 9 .
At L Khonomphai village jungles at Sangaikot in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched an operation on November 9 and recovered one .303 Rifle, two 09 mm Pistols, six 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifles, One x .22 Rifle, ammunition and other war-like stores.
On the same day, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched an operation in the general area between S Choungoubung and Maohing of Kangpokpi district and recovered one 5.56mm INSAS Rifle, one point 303 rifle, two SBBL guns, two 0.22 pistols, two improvised projectile launchers, grenades, ammunition and other war- like stores.
On November 8, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police jointly coordinated an operation in Thingom area of Yangoi Lambi, Imphal West District and recovered one 9mm carbine machine gun, one grenade launcher, one 9mm pistol, grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores.
Acting on specific intelligence of presence of arms and ammunition in the general area Samukom village in Tengnoupal district, troops of Assam Rifles, Manipur Police launched a coordinated search operation on November 4 and recovered two large Pompi guns, grenades, IEDs, explosive material, ammunition and other war-like stores.
Similarly, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an intelligence-based operation in Bishnupur district in general area Uyok on the same day and recovered one 7.62mm SLR rifle, one .303 rifle, two Single Bore Barrel (SBBL) guns, one 9mm pistol, grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores.
The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur police.
The successful recovery of these warlike stores highlights the seamless cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and other law enforcement agencies, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring the security and safety of the region, added the press note.
