Imphal, November 12 2019:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has announced that it has decided to support the NNPGs and be a part of the peace process so as to secure a better future for the Zeliangrong people living in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
A statement issued by the information and publicity cell of ZUF explained that its decision to support the NNPGs is due to the stand taken by the Central Government to not accept any more tribal outfits in the peace process after it set a deadline of October 31 to conclude the Naga political issue.
Stating that the decision was made after much consideration, ZUF reasoned that once the agreement is signed between the Centre and the negotiating parties, all armed outfits will be on the path of neutralization and may cease to exist eventually.
ZUF, realising that fact that the Zeliangrong people will have no future if it remained independent, analysed all the pros and cons and eventually joined the NNPGs, with the assurance that the political aspirations of Zeliangrong will be kept alive and will be pursued through democratic political processes in the post solution scenario.
It explained that ZUF is fully aware of the weightage of the political negotiation and added that it decided to integrate with the GPRN/NSCN for Naga political solution and for the better future of the Zeliangrong people.
Conveying that the Zeliangrongs of the three States will now work together with the NNPGs, it assured the people not to have any apprehensions, fear or doubts about the aspiration of the Zeliangrong State/Homeland in the post political scenario.
It needs a pragmatic approach and a political vision to realise the aspirations of the Zeliangrong people, further said the ZUF in the statement.
