TYCM consultative meet

Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) in its one-day consultative meeting has deliberated several issues confronting the tribal community in Manipur.
The programme was also particiated by tribal civil society bodies and activists held at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal on Friday.
.MTolkham Maring, president of the TYCM opined the need for the establishment TYCM units in all the hill districts of Manipur.
He has also highlighted various issues confronting the tribals such as effective implementation of Article 371C of the Indian Constitution, proper functioning of Hill Area Committee (HAC), free and compulsory education under Article 21 A, proper implementation and maintenance of quality of various projects in all the hill districts.
Tolkham then said that Manipur Development Society (MDS) has failed to execute its responsibilities in bringing desired results of all the developmental works, for which Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) be given responsibilities in executing developmental works in the tribal areas.
His speech was followed by screening of films highlighting the unfinished works of MDS in different hill districts.
During interactive session, various tribal leaders shared their views, opinions and suggestions on the setting up of the TYCM units in all the tribal areas in the state.
The participants then mooted for organising wider consultations in the near future.
TYCM is quintessential for realizing the aspirations for unity, peace, rights and development of the tribals of Manipur, the participants endorsed.
It then resolved that TYCM will carry out its activities for the welfare and interest of the tribals in future.
Celebration of a common tribal festival is agreeable to all participants in principle, the meeting resolved.
