Nupi Lan greetings

Imphal, December 11 2020: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla conveyed her greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Nupi Lan.

She stated that Nupi Lan is a landmark event in the history of Manipur and represents one of the popular agitations which fought against an extremely exploitation form of socio economic and political system executed by the joint feudalistic colonial rule.

Praising the role played by the Manipuri women in social and economic activities, she expressed belief that the present generation of Manipuri women will follow the true spirit of the then women in years to come and wished for the success of Nupi Lan Day.

Chief Minister N Biren also joined the people of Manipur in paying tribute to the brave Imas of Manipur.

He hailed the courage and spirit of women of Manipur to have challenged the then mightiest world power and continued that Nupi Lan is a motivation for the people of Manipur till date which reminds the people that they still have the courage and boldness to stand together and fight against evil.

Speaker Y Khemchand Singh in his message said, 'Manipuri women always took an active role in shaping the history of Manipur when the occasion arises' .

Deputy Speaker K Robindro Singh, Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai, Social Welfare Minister O Henry and Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh also greeted the people on the occasion.
