World Population Day commemorated

The Indian Army commemorated World Population Day, in Manipur and Assam.
Aligning with the global theme 'Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone' Indian Army conducted various events to raise awareness about global population issues and their impact on society.
Medical professionals from the Indian Army conducted an informative lecture for villagers at Yaingangpokpi village, in Manipur, highlighting the importance of family planning.
A documentary showcasing the negative impact of overpopulation on natural resources, healthcare and the environment was screened in the local language at Goodwill English School, Yaingangpokpi for the youths.
A drawing and postermaking competition was also organised for school children as a part of the awareness drive.
The event concluded with the distribution of sports items and prizes to students as a token of appreciation.
The event was well received and witnessed an active participation from the villagers.
In Assam, Indian Army organized an awareness drive for college students including NCC Cadets and teaching staff of Mariani College in Jorhat.
The drive addressed the importance of focusing on population-related concerns such as reproductive health, family planning, gender equality, and sustainable development.
The cadets were also educated on the significance of World Population Day which lies in its ability to foster discussions and raise awareness about the impact of population dynamics on socio-economic development, environmental sustainability, and individual well-being.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles under IGAR (South), celebrated World Population Day with impactful outreach programs in Chandel and Kakching districts.
In Chandel, villagers from New Samtal, Aibol Joupi, Sehlon, and Phaisanjang participated in a health and awareness event, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
The program included a lecture on family planning, contraceptive methods, along with a medical camp providing essential services for pregnant women and children.
At Kakching District, students from Assam Rifles Public School at Kakching and Phundrei educated the community about the disadvantages of population explosion and the advantages of controlled population growth.
Assam Rifles remains dedicated to empowering communities through education and awareness initiatives, contributing to a sustainable future for all, said the statement.
