Gaikhangam underlines need to export 'our dishes'

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei has underlined the imperative need to export "our traditional delicious dishes" to other countries.
He was speaking on Saturday at the national conference on indigenous food which was held in the central agricultural university.
This was organised by the CAU and the Association of Food Scientist and Technology of India.
The theme of the two-day conference was: Prospect and Challenge in Indigenous Food and Drink .
Gangmei was the chief guest of the of the function.
He said that all the North Eastern states have many delicious dishes.
These tasty and nutritious dishes should be made known to other countries.
If these food items are exported to foreign countries these states will be benefitted.

"We should be prepared for the Look East policy in these aspects." He said that our forefathers had visualized Look East concept.
He also appealed to one and all to add food items to culture and sports which have helped bring Manipur to the international limelight.
He also said that outsiders relish the Manipuri dishes and long for these items for a long time.
Prof M Premjit the CAU vice chancellor said that there are distinctive culture and delicious food item of the NE region.
He also underlined proper research and promotion of the indigenous food items of the region.
A souvenir was also released on the occasion.
A large number of delegates from other states are participating in the two day function.
