Farmers' training held at Gamnom Sapermaina

A one-day district level farmers training programme was held at Gamnom Saparmaina Community Hall under the aegis of Deputy Director (Horticulture and Soil Conservation), Kangpokpi, Sadar Hills today.
A Biren, Farm Manager of Horticulture & SC, Kangpokpi spoke as the resource person on cultivation of banana and lemon while planting materials and horticultural inputs were distributed to the trainees.
The inaugural function of the training programme that was attended by around 150 farmers was graced by SDO of Saitu-Gamphazol N Surjit Singh and Deputy Director (H&SC), Kangpokpi Kh Lokendra Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, N Surjit said equipping with knowledge alone is not adequate for bumper harvest of horticultural crops while stressing on the importance of applying technology for bountiful harvest.
He also urged the farmers to work sincerely and laboriously for better harvest.
A Biren enlightened the farmers on methods of farming lemon and banana.
He also shed light on the prospect of growing other horticultural crops in areas and farms where banana and lemon plantations are carried out.
The training programme is organised under Technology Mission HMNEH, 201-13, Govt of Manipur.
