Jiribam, October 10 2024:
The All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society, Namasudra Parishad Latingkhal, Jiribam, Nari Jagaran Manch, Jiribam and All Manipur Bengali Students' Union have issued a joint press statement condemning and refuting the allegations that have recently gone viral on social media from unverified sources.
The viral statement has claimed that the Bengali community in Jiribam have extended support to the Kuki terror organisations amidst the ongoing conflict between the Meitei and Kuki groups, said the joint statement bearing the signatures of representatives of the four aforementioned Jiri organisations.
Stating that the Bengali community is deeply concerned about these allegations, the joint statement informed that after careful consideration and investigation, the Bengali organisations have found no evidence of any meetings or discussions involving fundraising for the Kuki organisations.
In this connection, the Joint Bengali Organisations have claimed that the viral statement circulating on social media like Facebook, WhatsApp etc is entirely false and a deliberate attempt to malign the reputation of the Bengali community in Jiribam district.
The joint statement has urged the public to refrain from spreading such unfounded rumors about the Bengali community while conveying suspicion that these malicious acts allegedly originate from vested interests seeking to disrupt the peace between the Bengali and Meitei communities for personal gain.
Additionally, in response to these allegations, the Joint Bengali Organisations have decided to take legal action by filing an FIR with the concerned authrotiy.
They are seeking to identify those responsible for this malicious act and hold accountable to protect the communal harmony of Jiribam, said the release.
