Virasat Series 2019-20 underway

Imphal, September 10 2019:
As a part of the 'Virasat Series 2019-20' of SPICMACAY Imphal Chapter, which has been underway at various institutes since yesterday, Shishu Nistha Niketan, Moirangkampu Sajeb, Imphal East and Pitambara English School, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, today, witnessed the performance of internationally recognised instrumentalist and Indian Sitar maestro Partha Bose with Kaushik Konwar on tabla.
Partha Bose rendered some Indian Classical Ragas and folk compositions in the two schools and after the performance, he also interacted with the school students and teachers explaining about the basics of Indian Classical music, the unique characteristics of Indian music, assignment of definite times of performing a Raga and musical improvisation etc.

The program schedule of the ongoing Virasat series for tomorrow will be at Sacred Heart School Porompat, for the morning session starting at 10 am and at Sainik School Pangei for the afternoon session starting at 12.30 pm.
Mention may be made that SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youths), is a voluntary movement to preserve and promote awareness of the rich cultural tapestry of India amongst the youth, through focus on classical arts with its rituals, mythology and philosophy and to facilitate an appreciation of their deeper values.
Virasat is a festival comprising lecture demonstrations, performances and workshops in folk and classical arts, literature, craft, talks, theatre, films and yoga held in different educational institutions.
It aims at a close interaction between the student and artists.
