Imphal, February 10 2020:
Decrying the neglect of the authorities concerned towards the repairing and maintenance of the approach road from IMA Hall, Lamphelpat to Government Quarters behind it, residents/occupants of the said Government quarters have urged the authorities to repair the road at the earliest.
Addressing a press meet held today at the Government Quarters behind IMA Hall Lamphelpat, one of the resident who identified himself as H Pumzalian, asserted that the approach road to the Government Quarters has been left unattended for the past 20 years by the authorities.
He stated that the prolonged ignorance has caused the approach road to produce lots of dust during the dry seasons and then to become muddy in the monsoon season.
"Such appalling conditions of the road has resulted in the whole residents of the Government Quarters facing immense trouble while using the road, particularly the school going children", Pumzalian added.
Thingrei Rungshung, another resident of the same Government Quarter, maintained that the said approach road has been left out even when the surrounding roads of all Government Quarters at Lamphel Area were repaired and blacktopped last year.
He went on to lament that no positive response has been received till date although the residents of the Government Quarter had raised complaint about the matter to the authorities concerned in the past.
Claiming that it has become a routine activity for the residents of the said Government Quarters behind IMA Hall to make contributions and shingling on the approach road, Thingrei Rungshung maintained that the efforts of the residents to improve the road condition do not last long.
The resident deplored that no authorities concerned have been looking after the repairing and maintenance work of the approach road although PWD has been regularly collecting rent fees from the residents.
