Thoubal, August 09 2022: Women in Governance (WinG) has strongly condemned the unfortunate case of a young girl (15) who was sexually abused by her father for years and attempted to take her own life on the night of July 31 as a result.

WinG has informed that the organisation is gearing up to stage a rally in Thoubal district to protest against the increasing incidence of sexual abuse and violence on women.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference held at WinG Thoubal office today, Oinam Thoibi, member, WinG called for widespread participation in the rally.

Oinam Thoibi added that preparations are underway to submit memoranda to the relevant authorities in connection with the rally.

As informed by WinG member Bijaya Luxmi, the young girl in question was only 11 years old when her father began sexually abusing her.

It is worth noting that important members of WinG were present at the press conference.
