AR promotes Swachh Bharat Mission

Imphal, February 09 2020:
Joupi Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), along with local populace organised a cleanliness drive as part of Swachh Bharat Mission at Lonpi village in Chandel district yesterday.
A total of 27 locals and troops of Assam Rifles at Mombi participated in the event.
Children were also motivated to keep their houses and surroundings clean and were also informed about the diseases caused by unhygienic surroundings, said a statement of PRO IGAR (South) today.
Assam Rifles have always been committed in promoting healthy and clean lifestyle in Joupi area and would continue to do so in the future as well.
The locals applauded the initiative and efforts of Joupi Battalion for conducting such drives, said AR.
Meanwhile, Veng Battalion of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) also organised "Swachh Nadia, Swachh Zindagi" as a part of broader initiative of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Tuibong village of Churachandpur yesterday.
The event saw personnel of Assam Rifles supporting students and staff of Trinity College Churachandpur in cleaning and removing garbage from streets and drains.
The local populace residing in the nearby areas were also made aware about the ill effects of water pollution, said AR.
About 250 villagers and 50 students participated in the programme, added AR .
