UNC, NPO submit memos to Union Minister Sudarshan
Senapati Celebrates Rani Gaidinliu's Birth Centenary

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Sudarshan Bhagat on Thursday highlighted the need for understanding the life of freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu by one and all.
The minister was participating in the birth centenary celebration of Rani Gaidinliu at the Senapati mini stadium.
The function was organised by BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha Manipur Pradesh.
Chief Guest of the event, Sudarshan Bhagat stated Gaidinliu is a highly respected freedom fighter who gallantly fought against British Raj.
The minister arrived in Imphal on Wednesday to take part in the celebration.
Sudarshan expressed high opinion on Gaidinliu and said everyone should revere her spirit.

Parliamentary Steering Committee on SC & ST Chairman Faggan Singh Kulaste attended as the President of the function.
He hailed Rani Gaidinliu as a freedom fighter who had sacrificed her life for the country.
She has to be respected and her works must be remembered by all, Faggan urged in his speech on the occasion.
Manipur BJP President Chaoba also once again proposed the erection of a statue of Rani Gaidinliu in the Parliament complex, New Delhi.
BJP ST Morcha national vice president Ramesh Chand Mina and Secretary BS Mathur were on the dais during the function.
Later, Naga Peoples Organisation (NPO) submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State Sudarshan.
United Naga Council (UNC) also submitted a memorandum to him urging the Government of India to expedite implementation of the historic framework agreement on Indo-Naga politcial issuesigned on August 3, 2015 in New Delhi.
The memorandum signed by its President Gaidon Kamei and General Secretary S Milan also briefed the Centre on the tribal political unrest and volatile situation consequent upon the passing of the three Bills and a resolution passed by the Manipur State Assembly on August 31, 2015 .
The memorandum stated that the Naga people of the South while welcoming the historic Indo-Naga peace accord signed after more than six decades of armed conflict in the region also extend its unceasing support to the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The UNC team briefed the Minister of State on Manipur's tribal issues and incidents related to passing of the three controversial Bills and two resolutions adopted by Manipur Assembly on August 31, 2015 and its consequences which led to the killing of nine persons.
The memorandum alleged that the State forces used rubber bullets for the valley protesters while live bullets were used against "peace loving and democratic tribal protesters in the hills.
UNC said, "There has been unrest in the hill districts of Manipur among the tribal people who have stood up against the injustices meted out to them in their day today life and threatening of their existence and future" .
The UNC also sought the Government of India's intervention on the volatile situation in Manipur.
