All Manipur Nupi Marup celebrates 81st foundation day

Imphal, January 08 2021: The 81st Foundation Day of All Manipur Nupi Marup was celebrated yesterday at Irabat Bhavan.

Speaking at the programme, L Sumatibala, Secretary of All Manipur Nupi Marup said the organisation which was established in January 7, 1940 have been involved in many issues and demands including demand for availing rice at a subsidised rate in hands with National Federation of Indian Women, which resulted in the National Food Security Act, said a statement issued by the organisation.

She also said the organisation has been demanding reservation of 33% seats for women to have better women representation, however this has not been realised yet resulting in marginalisation of women in politics.

President of the All Manipur Nupi Marup lauded the swift and righteous judgement of District and Session Judge A Noutuneshwari Devi against culprits of crime against women even though many such crimes against women are pending at Court, added the statement.

In a statement issued by Communist Party of India Manipur State Council, the party paid tribute to the statue of Ima Sabi Devi, the first General Secretary of All Manipur Nupi Marup, at Eco Green Park, Imphal East on the occasion of the 81st Foundation day of the organisation.
