Narengbam Jogendrakumar Ningshing Award to be given annually

Imphal, January 08 2019: SALAI Holdings Private Limited has announced that "Narengbam Jogendrakumar Ningshing Award" will be conferred every year to individuals who made significant contributions in the society in their respective fields.

The private company has also informed that the Progressive Education Centre, which was established by Narengbam Jogendrakumar in 1960, will be revived again.

Addressing' a press meet held at the conference hall of SALAI Holdings Private Limited today, the company's Chairman Narengbam Samarjit conveyed that the award is dedicated to his late father Narengbam Jogendrakumar.

Narengbam Jogendrakumar is a multifaceted person who made significant contributions in the society in the fields of education, drama and literature among others, Samarjit said further informing that this year, the award will be given to one individual each from five disciplines namely Journalism, Social activism, education, arts and socio-political movement.

He explained that this year's topics for journalism and social activism will be integration and activism for downtrodden people in conflict setting respectively while that of education, arts and socio-political movement will be excellence in imparting education, outstanding contribution in drama and significant contribution in society in relevance with politics respectively.

All Assam New Writers and Artists' Association's president Dr Ganesh Pegu who also attended at the press meet conveyed that the association will support the SALAI Holdings Private Limited's initiative of conferring award to individuals from different fields while acknowledging the role taken by Narengbam Jogendrakumar.
