People's consultative meeting on 'Indo- Naga Peace Talks' held in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, October 07 2015:
National Socialist Council of Nagalim Zeilad Zeliangrong Region on Wednesday convened a People's Consultative Meeting on "Indo-Naga Peace Talks" at Indoor Stadium Tamenglong District.
During the consultative meeting, a one-minute silent prayer was observed in remembrance of Naga Martyrs.
The prayer was led Rev Dr Guingopou, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Tamenglong.
Prominent leaders like AK Lungaleng, Member of the Collective Leadership; G Akhuan, Steering Member; Guangkarei Malangmei, Tatar; Stand Hope S Vara, Deputy Kilonser MIP; RK Ringthim Steering Executive Member; Gaipuilan Panmei, Deputy Kilonser (Forest & Environment); Longchaibi, Deputy Kilonser; Meisong Moita, CAO Makuilongdi Zeliangrong Region and Sangailung Pamei, CAO Zelad Zeliangrong Region attended and shared the dais during the meet.
Speaking on the occasion, AK Lungaleng, Member of the Collective Leadership said that the Naga movement was started in Tamenglong District by Haipou Jadonang by opposing hills house tax against the British.
He talked about the peace process between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) led by Isak Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah.
AK Lungalang who had frequently participated in the Indo-Naga peace talks mentioned that Thuingaleng Muivah had made it clear that "no integration, no solution" to the Indian Government.
He also pointed out that "Nagalim" has rich natural resources, both under the earth and on the ground.
Indian Government has recognized the uniqueness of Nagas and that these natural resources belonged to Nagas, he said.
AK Lungalang alleged that Chief Ministers of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have "tried to create disturbances to the peace process but now they no longer stand against it." "If we stand firm, no one can stand in our way", AK Lungaleng added.
G Akhuan, Steering Member who twice attended the peace talks said "God is with Nagas, door has opened for Nagas.
While the door is opened , we need to stand together.
Many factions have joined the mainstream and many are yet to joint it.
We are thankful to those factions who have joined the mainstream" .
Guangkarei Malangmei, Tatar and Stand Hope S Vara, Deputy Kilonser MIP, RK Ringthim Steering Executive Member also spoke on the occasion.
A mass prayer for honorable and early solution to the long pending Indo- Naga issue was held in the concluding part of the meet, which was led by Rev Keiba, Convener FNR, Tamenglong Zone.
