Fire safety mock drill concludes at RIMS

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has successfully concluded a 4-Day Fire Safety Mock Drill and Fire Extinguisher Demonstration on Saturday.
The mock drill cum demonstration held in front of the New Microbiology Department was organised by RIMS Fire Safety Committee in collaboration with Manipur Fire Service with the aim to enhance fire safety awareness and preparedness among the people, said a release issued by RIMS.
At the event, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, emphasised the importance of understanding fire safety equipment and protocols for handling fire emergencies.
The mock drill provided participants with step-by-step instructions on rescuing themselves and others, controlling emergency situations, and administering first aid.
These exercises are crucial for ensuring that individuals can effectively respond to fire emergencies, thereby protecting both lives and property.
Kh Surachandra Singh, Sub-Officer of Manipur Fire Service, led a session on fire protection and safety measures, including the adoption of a fire safety plan.
The mock drill also featured demonstrations on fire extinguishing techniques.
The event saw participation from various dignitaries and staff, including Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn); Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean (Academic); Prof Th Meera Devi, Sub-Dean; HODs; S Sarat Singh, CAO/FA; and Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, Nodal Officer, SAP 2024-25/Kaya Kalp.
