Covid situation worsen as 22 more new cases detected

The new surge of Covid-19 in the state is worsening with each passing day as Thursday reported 22 new positive cases from six districts, out of 295 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering 7.46 per cent positivity rate.
The 22 fresh cases are residents of Imphal West (9), Imphal East (5), Kakching (3), Churachandpur (2), Thoubal (2) and Ukhrul (1) districts.
Thursday also reported four recoveries from home isolation but no death case in the last 24 hours.
Number of active cases rose to 97 out of which 81 are in home isolation.
As of Thursday, 10 out of 16 districts of the state have active Covid cases.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2120 lives including seven CAPF per sonnel and infected 1,37,367 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.
The virus has claimed the fives of 194 vaccinated people, out of which 61 had received the second dose of Covid vaccine.
There are 14 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 47 in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 11,579 positive cases and 118 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 97 new positive cases and zero fatality.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month is 8.03 percent.
In the last 24 hours, 196 D-type and 51 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 3501 vaccine doses administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,96,528, out of which 12,63,083 had received second doses and 1,16,264 jabbed with the precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48819), Imphal East (30483), Thoubal (10167), Churachandpur (11056), Kangpokpi (3137), Tamenglong (3478), Bishnupur (9846), Senapati (2495), Ukhrul (3281), Kakching (6900), Chandel (2731), Noney (1161), Tengnoupal (1201), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1036), and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,269 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,961 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,20,753 tests per million population against the national average of 6,14,490 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate came down to 98.39 per cent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands 8.50 per cent.
