Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) may broadly be grouped into two namely Acyanotic CHD, whose treatments are generally straight forward and Cyanotic CHD, whose treatments are generally complex, prolonged and require .highly experienced and skilled Heart Surgeons and Cardiologists for pre-operative, operative and post-operative intensive care for the best outcome.
Babies born with such cyanotic CHD are also known as "Blue babies" as the skin colour of such babies is blue due to the impure/deoxygenated blood circulating in different parts of the body.
Master James (name changed) has recovered very well on the Day-1 post operation and is likely to go back to Nagaland in a few days' time.
Since Manipur's first heart surgery started at SKY Hospital on 18 November 2015, Dr L Shyamkishore stated that more and more complex heart operation are taking place in the hospital for heart patients not only of Manipur but also of other North Eastern States thereby reducing the hardship of the people of this region to travel to distant places for such treatment.
