Imphal, June 07, 2013:
In connection with the objection raised by some student organisations, youth clubs and women bodies of Tamei headquarters over allotment of Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitarak (RGGLV) dealership to Celeb I Pamei by IOC for Tamei, Zeliangrong Union (ZU), Tamei Zone and Liangmei Naga Arts & Culture Association (LNACA) land laid bare the findings of their inquiry into the matter.
In a joint statement, Secretary of Zeliangrong Union, Tamei Zone Changchapbou and President of Liangmei Naga Art & Culture Association Thiusongbou pointed out that the RGGLC delealership for Tamei had been advertised by IOC in 2012 under open category.
Out of the four applicants, three of them were found qualified to participate in the lottery conducted by the IOC in the presence of five MLAs and other dignitaries including then Tamei MLA N Awangbou at Hotel Classic on August 10, 2011.In the draw of lottery, Caleb I Panmei was selected.
Aleb I Panmei is in possession of plots and other lands in Tamei HQ and the resident/land possession certificate issued by the SDOs in 2010 and 2012 are genuine, the joint statement declared.
Furthermore, the joint statement pointed out that apart from Liangmei tribe, Nepalis, Biharis, Zemes, Tangkhul, Rongmeis, etc are residents of Tamei HQ presently.
Since Tamei came into being a sub-division, nobody has been so far denied residentship of Tamei, provided there is no adverse remark against him or her.
The present residents of Tamei HQ are all migrants from other villages of Tamenglong and other parts of the State and the country.
Tamei nomenclature is derived from 'Ta' for Tamah village and 'Mei' from Liangmei village.
The land was donated by these two villages for setting up SDO HQ (office) for the administration of northern areas of Tamenglong district.
So, there is no reason whatsoever to deny Caleb I Panmei, who is a Zeliangrong Naga as a resident of Tamei, the joint statement asserted.
It also pointed out that N Asenliu, w/o N Awangbou, Ex-MLA of Tamei, was an applicant of RGGLV, Tamei.
She is from Taku village but resides in Kanglatongbi, Sekmai, Imphal.
As she did not get selected, using the name of Tamei Youth Club, Tamei Women Front, etc.
to serve her vested interest would only tarnish the image of Tamei HQ.
Besides, she has filed a case in the court and the matter is still pending.
So, in the meantime, the two organisations would like to appeal to refrain from baseless statements/allegations at the behest of the candidates who did not get selected in the lottery, the joint statement added.
