Storm damages several houses in Chandel

Chandel, April 06 2015 :
Several houses have been reported damaged by heavy rain, thunder and hail-storm that swept across Chandel District Headquarters on Sunday night.
The rain and storm affected around 22 houses of Riverline and 5 houses in Lambung Village besides damage caused to agriculture and horticulture crops in the district.
Chandel MLA ST Nunghlung Victor inspected the affected areas on Monday accompanied by LN Kashung, ADC Chandel.
They held interactions with the affected villagers.
ST Nunghlung Victor, Chandel MLA said necessary relief assistance will be provided soon to the affected villagers.
The MLA further told that all the village chiefs to take photographs of houses damaged by the hail-storm in their respective villages and asked them to submit a report to the Sub- Divisional Office for ensuring necessary relief.

LN Kashung, ADC Chandel who is also in charge of Chandel SDO informed that as per official report, all together 27 houses from two villages in the district headquarters were affected by the storm.
The ADC further informed that an official team will be sent to surrounding villages for assessing the extent of damages caused by the storm.
Reports said the areas affected include Riverline, Lambung, Phunchung, Chandel Christian, Mantri Pantha and Hnahringkhu Villages.
The actual extent of damage was yet to be properly assessed.
CNPO extends help .
Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) visited the affected villages.
According to the Chief of Riverline Village Ws Boyesh Anal, around 22 houses have been affected in his village while 2 and 20 houses have been affected in Phunchung and Lambung village respectively.
While visiting Riverline Village, CNPO President Ws Kanral Anal handed over five bundles of GI Sheets to the Chief Ws Boyesh for distribution among the affected villagers.
Kanral has appealed district administration for immediate assessment of the damage and sought all possible help for the affected villagers.
