Imphal, February 06 2025:
Amid speculations of a possible no confidence motion against chief minister N Biren Singh by dissenting MLAs in the 7th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly set to begin from February 10, RD&PR minister Yumnam Khemchand arrived here from Delhi on Thursday.
The minister returned after a visit to the national capital, where he reportedly held discussions with BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra regarding the simmering tension within the party and dissent against the chief minister.
Khemchand had left Imphal for Delhi on February 3, and during his stay, he is said to have met Sambit Patra twice.
The latest meeting reportedly took place on Wednesday around 7 pm, during which the two leaders discussed the political situation in Manipur.
However, no official statement has been made regarding the outcome of these discussions.
Upon receiving information about his return, media persons waited for him at Imphal Airport.
He arrived around 1 pm, exiting the terminal building with a bright smile.
When asked about his visit to Delhi, he stated that he had gone for medical treatment.
When further queried about his talks with party leaders in the national capital, he simply responded "no comment" and left.
