2nd MR arms missing case

In a new development, the special trial case of NIA pertaining to the arms missing case from the kote of 2nd Manipur Rifle involving chairmen of two Kuki militant outfits was found put on stay since September last year.
The case was put on stay after the accused David Hangsing, husband of Saikul AC MLA Kimneo Hangsing and chairman of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) and Lhunkhoson Haokip, chairman of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) filed a transfer petition before the Supreme Court in August last year.
The first hearing of the petition was held in the first week of September, 2023 .
Notably, David Hangsing and Lhunkhoson Haokip are on bail.
The petition was filed under Section 406 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to transfer the case from the District and Session Court Imphal East to Special Court NIA, Guwahati along with an application to stay the case.
It may be mentioned that NIA started investigating the case pertaining to the missing of 56 small arms and 58 magazines from the arms kote of 2nd Manipur Rifle from June 2, 2018 onwards.
