NoDWJU celebrates 3rd foundation day

Noney, December 05 2024: Noney District Working Journalists' Union (NoDWJU) celebrated its 3rd foundation day on Thursday at Longmai Bazar, Noney district headquarters.

Hill Areas Committee chairman and Nungba MLA Dinganglung Gangmei, attended the event as chief guest.

Stody Dangmei, a social worker, and D Kapudai, chairman Village Authority Council Longmai Area (VACLA), were present as guests of honour.

In his address, the chief guest commended the media fraternity for their tireless dedication to society and nation-building through responsible journalism.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by journalists, including low remuneration, criticism and working under difficult and conflict situation, and hailed their unwavering commitment to serve the people.

Describing journalists as the "fourth pillar" of democracy and vital to the nation's progress, he pledged his full support to the welfare of the journalists' union.

Dinganglung also urged younger generations to consider pursuing careers in journalism to contribute meaningfully to the held.

As part of the programme, a one-minute silence was observed to honour the memory of journalists who had passed away in the line of duty.

NoDWJU executive members attending the event were G Pouhoilung, president; Agui Kamei, general secretary; and Gaithaodin Malangmei, secretary information & publicity.
