Students' union poll of Lilong Haoreibi College postponed

The Students' Union Election, 2011-2012 scheduled on December 9 in respect of Lilong Haoreibi College has been postponed following an incident of snatching away nomination papers from the election committee of the college by some unidentified armed persons.
Issuing an office memorandum in connection with the postponement, Additional Director of University & Higher Education Dr RK Yaiskul Singh said that a new schedule would be intimated in due course.
Meanwhile, claiming responsibility for the incident, armed group, People's United Liberation Front (PULF) has announced its decision of imposing ban on the students' union election in Lilong Haoreibi College.
In a statement, Information and Publicity Secretary of PULF Md Rauf Khan has informed that the decision to ban election to students' union of Lilong Haoreibi College has been taken after a serious deliberation over involvement of huge amount of money and narcotic substances, thereby degrading the morale of the students.
On the other hand, a meeting of students' union of Lilong Haoreibi College held at the college hall today has strongly condemned the snatching away of nomination papers from the election committee and demanded an explanation from all those who are involved in the incident.
The meeting also proposed that the election to the students' union of the colleges in Manipur should be conducted as scheduled on December 9 .
