Chothe Civil organisations voice dissent

Chandel, November 05 2016: The general meeting of Chothe Civil Organisations held on November 3 at Chandonpokpi (Phaipi) under the aegis of the Chothe Lim Abom (CLAM), Chothe Athourel Ngei Abon (CANA), Chothe Sanu Lim (CBL) and Chothe Chief Association (CCA), denounced the description of Chothe Naga tribe as a Kuki tribe in the inscriptions on Pathen Tonsot Songpi monolith erected at Khulmun village, Churachandpur.

Chothe Civil Organisations in a statement said the Chothe traditional system of administration is much different from that of the Kuki's.The Chothe's have never agreed to join the Kuki tribe, it was merely a concept adopted by foreign scholars.

Chothes are recognised as a Naga tribe from time immemorial as proved by the old documents, the statement said.
