Baby Lingjelthoibi becomes the youngest Sukanya of the Manipur.
Father of the baby, Thingnam Surjit Singh opened a Sukanya Sammridhi Yojana account in the name of Baby Lingjelthoibi, just one minute after she was born.
The baby was born at 9: 48 AM today, according to a statement.
Sukanya Samridhi Yojna campaign was launched by the Prime Minister under his social security "Save Girl, Educate Girl." Vinod Kumar, Director (Posts) Manipur launched a special campaign to cover more girl children under the scheme.
Under this scheme an account for a girl child from zero to ten years of age can be opened in any Post office with Rs 1000 only, the minimum amount that can be deposited in a year.
As a part of this campaign, an awareness camp was organised at the Staff Room of Ante-Natal Ward of the JNIMS, Porompat.
The campaign was organised by Md Nasir Ahmed, Inspector of Posts and Md Abdul Kalam, Sub Postmaster, Porompat Post Office.
Kumar informed that under Sukanya Sammridhi Yojana, an interest rate of 9.2 % is announced by the Government of India for this financial year which will be calculated compounded annually.
Its maturity time is perfect for her further education or marriage and the best part of this scheme is that parents have to invest only for the first 14 years.
He also congratulated Th Surjit Singh of Kakching Khunou Thingnam Leikai of Thoubal district on becoming the father of the youngest SSY account holder.
