Bishnupur, September 04 2024:
A Government that cannot stop drone-bombing or rein in wilful gun attacks by suspected Kuki militants has no reason to stay in power, said L Premila, convenor, Women's Wing, United Protection Committee.
She made the statement during a sit-in protest staged at Nambol Bazar participated by meira paibis of Nambol, Wangoi, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Konthoujam and Oinam AC demanding resignation State Government legislators and removal of Central forces who are in SoO agreement with "Kuki narco-terrorists" and have failed to protect Meitei civilians.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, L Premila underscored the recent drone-bombing by suspected Kuki militants which claimed the life of a young woman and left her daughter injured.
Comparing the drone attacks to missile strikes, she questioned why the Central forces have allowed such grave crimes including rampant gun attacks and bomb attacks to occur.
Accusing the Central forces of resorting to a "divide and rule policy", she said that both Central and State forces who have not received order for retaliatory gunfire should not be deployed at the frontlines in the vulnerable peripheral regions.
Thus she called for removal of Central forces and resignation of Government leaders.
