Monetary aid extended to ailing widow

Imphal, May 04 2020: In a noble gesture, the officials at Leimakhong Military station have handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Holynah Zimik, wife of (Late) Naik AS Ngathingkhui Ukhrul district, who has been suffering from severe ailments requiring very costly medications and treatment.

The mother of 5 children has been selling vegetables on the roadside to supplement her meager pension, feed her children and meet treatment costs.

She stays in a rented room near the hospital for ease of access to healthcare after leaving her village.

On hearing the plight, All Manipur Ex-Servicemen Association took up a case for help from Army authorities at Leimakhong & Rangapahar and subsequently, HQs Eastern Command at Kolkata sanctioned an immediate financial help of Rs 1 lakh for the widow and her family, said a statement of AFESAM (Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Association Manipur).

AFESAM also expressed gratitude to GOCs of 57 Division, 3 Corps and to HQs Eastern Command for the generous assistance to a destitute widow of an Ex-Servicemen.
