Imphal, January 04 2014 : As in previous years, Ang-Gee-Pheo Tangnit (Feast of Sanctification), the cultural festival of Thangal tribe was celebrated at Tumnoupokpi village playground today with K Sushila, Deputy Director of Manipur State Archives and H Khangba, president of Thangal Union attending as Chief Guest and President respectively.

Addressing the gathering, K Sushila observed that the Thangal tribe has been settling in 11 villages located in different parts of Manipur of since time immemorial and the celebration of Ang-Gee-Pheo Tangnit is an occasion for reconciliation among the tribesmen.

She said the video footage of the celebration will be included in the State Archives so as and it will in turn help in the preservation of the tradition and culture of Thangal tribe.
