Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur, today flagged off the 5th Winter Disabled Mela For Inclusive Society for all in connection with International Day of Persons with Disabilities under the theme Transformation Towards Sustainable and Resilient Society For All, at Sagolband Tera Yengkhom Leirak community hall, today .
A documentary titled Our Rights was also released at the event .
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh said that the State Government is taking up steps to provide benefit schemes to the people like Women Disabled Benefit Scheme .
He also assured to provide every possible assistance to the people with disabilities .
Advisor of Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, S Kunjakeshwor Singh (Keba) said that the fair has been organised with the aim of providing a platform for the disabled persons to showcase their skill and also stressed on the need of providing physical, moral and financial support to the differently abled .
Chairman of Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Ch Opendro Singh, former president of ICHAM, N Rajendro, Assistant Director, Human Rights Law Network, Advocate Th Premlata Devi, president of Yengkhom Leirak Development Club, H Shantikumar Singh and former Chief Resource Person, CTEL, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi, Th Chandramani Singh attended the event as the president and guests of honour respectively .
Around 30 stalls participated in the fair/ mela which was inaugurated today .
On the other hand, All Manipur Disabled and Handicapped Persons Development Agency distributed disabled pension scheme to the people at Leishemlon Marup Chingamakha Oinam Leirak, opposite Manipur College road, as a part of the International Day of People with Disabilities .
AMUCO president L Deban Sharma, Doner Pension Scheme Singjamei representative O Romen Singh, Leishemlon Marup president P Raghu ingh and OC, Singjamei P/S, N Ingocha Singh attended the event as the presidium members .
The pension for the disabled persons was provided by O Romen Singh.
