When asked about the demands submitted in the form of a memorandum by representatives of civil society organisations during his last visit, Ravi stated, "When we converse with each other, we don't have a fix position; we understand each other because most of the problem is on account of mutual misunderstanding.
So, once we start talking to each other, we understand each other's position and that helps us in coming to a common ground" .
Representatives of various organisations met Ravi at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong from 2 pm till 4 pm.
Leaders of All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO), United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) also met the Government of India's interlocutor for Naga peace talks.
UCM President Elangbam Johnson, who was one of the representatives, said that this was the second time they were meeting RN Ravi.
In the meeting, AMUCO, UCM and CCSK representatives reminded Ravi about the six-point demand made in the memorandum submitted to him in the first meeting.
They asked him to translate the demands into action.
It may be mentioned that in the first meeting, AMUCO, UCM and CCSK demanded that the people of Manipur had "every right to know" the entire peace process going on between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) that might "directly or indirectly affect Manipur's historical and political status" .
The organisations had also asked the Government of India to "produce a white paper" on the peace process with NSCN (IM) from 1997 onwards and also the details of the frame work agreement signed on August 3 between the Government of India and NSCN (IM).
The organisations made it clear that the Government of India should respect the "distinctive identity and political status of Manipur and its multicultural pluralistic society based on the principles of co-existence and communal harmony while ensuring integrity of its body-polity" .
The last memorandum pointed out that any cultural and administrative arrangement on the basis of ethnicity is "unacceptable" as it is tantamount to "communal and sectarian demarcation of aspirations and voices of smaller communities in Manipur" .
The UCM President further said that the representatives apprised RN Ravi on the present situation in the State and he expressed the desire to meet them in the future.
AMUCO President Dr Y Mani Khuman, who was also one of the representatives, said that they had asked RN Ravi not to harm any interests of Manipur people while bringing a solution for the peace talk between Government of India and NSCN (IM) .
CCSK President P Arjun Telheiba said that current issues of the society and many others based on history were discussed during the meeting.
