Coaching centres for pre recruitment training opened

At least two coaching centres have been set up in Heirok Constituency to give pre recruitment training to the youth from Heirok who want to join Indian Armed Forces through Agnipath scheme, today.
This is the first time such centres have been established in Manipur and the two centres were set up at Heirok and Nongpok Sekmai under the supervision of Heirok AC MLA Thokchom Radheshyam.
The two centres will give youth from Heirok who want to become Agniveers (candidates selected under Agnipath scheme) free training to clear the recruitment exam.
Ahead of the inauguration of the two centres, a procession was also organised by the Agnipath Scheme Pre-recruitment Training Management Committee, Heirok AC to give awareness about the Agnipath scheme.
The awareness rally participated by about 800 Army aspirants was flagged off by Radheshyam from Heirok Part-II Litan Makhong.
The MLA also gifted a T-shirt each to the participants of the rally with an inscription written as "Agnipath" .
Thoubal SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam also took part in the flagging off ceremony.
Later, the two coaching centres were inaugurated during a function held at Heirok Part-III Ngarouthel.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Radheshyam said that Agnipath is a far sighted scheme of the Central Government which will recruit youth in the age bracket of 17 to 21 years in the Indian Armed Force services for a period of four years initially.
Saying that opening the two coaching centres was a historic moment for the people of Heirok AC, the MLA said that the Army aspirants from Heirok will be given proper training by the intellects and retired Army officers from the Constituency itself at free of cost.
The MLA said that he was elated to see many youth from Heirok showing their interest to become Agniveers and serve the country.
Accusing the Opposition of attempting to portray the scheme in a bad light, Radheshyam claimed that the Congress didn't implement any scheme for the wellbeing of the masses during their tenure.
Retired Lieutenant General Laiphrakpam Nishikanta Singh, popularly known as LN Singh (VSM) and Commandant of STC, BSF, Churachandpur Hidam Subol also attended the programme among others.
During the function, the gathering observed two minute silence to pay their respect to the victims of the landslide at Noney.
