Imphal, April 03 2013:
UNLF has alleged that Indian security forces have been killing innocent villagers to snap the age-old fraternal relation between Manipur and Myanmar.
In a statement, Ksh Yoiheiba, senior publicity officer of the banned outfit, asserted that it is an open secret that the Indian security forces is resorting to hideous covert methods to subdue the resilient freedom struggle of the Manipuri people.
Armed with AFSPA and given a free rein, they are keeping the people of Manipur cowered down in fear psychosis with countless fake encounters, extra-judicial killings, rapes and other heinous crimes.
These criminal activities and devilish scheme of Indian security forces has been exposed time and again in the media.
But the innocent villagers of the interior area and inhabiting along the Manipur-Myanmar border area are still subjected to torture and tyranny all the time and there seems to be no saviour at all.
This time, the killings and tyranny of Indian security forces have extended beyond the border.
The innocent villagers on both the side of the border intermingle and do simple business among them as they simply co-exist peacefully and are interdependent from time immemorial.
But yesterday, at around 6.30 PM, 44 AR of Kasung Post operating in Kasom-Khullen area captured 2 innocent Kuki villagers from Phayang village from across the border, who came to sell meat to the village of Namli, Kasom Khullen and were subjected to inhumane torture.
One of the villagers was shot dead but the other escaped.
This is another stark example of Indian security forces mindset of trying to snap the age-old fraternal relations between villagers on both sides of the border, UNLF alleged.
The statement of UNLF further alleged that Indian security forces conducted a sabotage operation and destroyed a bridge at about 20 mile north of Tamu along Tamu - Minthar road of Myanmar in the intervening night of 6 and 7 of February 2013 and tried to unsuccessfully pass the blame to UNLF.
"So we appeal to all our ethnic brethren whether Nagas, Kukis and Meiteis alike that it is high time to condemn the real hideous facet of Indian security forces and not be wooed by their treachery", Yoiheiba said, while appealing to the neighbouring nations especially Myanmar not to remain silent and condemn India's State Terrorism against the innocent indigenous peoples.
