AMCO condemns forced closer of Christian schools

Imphal, March 03 2012:
An emergency meeting of All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) held on March 1 has denounced forced closer of some of the Christian schools in Imphal valley by Maoist Communist Party.
According to a statement jointly signed by AMCO President Rev S Prim Vaiphei, Vice President Rev Dr N Nipamacha, General Secretary Rev Fr George Baite and Joint Secretary Rev K Rajmohan, all the members present in the meeting opined that Christians or people of any other faith have the right to practice and propagate their religion in our secular society in tune with the secular and democratic system.
The members clarified that it is not in the nature and spirit of Christianity, and so the Christian institutions, to force or coerce anyone, specially students to become a Christian.
The joint statement further observed AMCO is pained to note that the Christian minority and its institutions have become easy target in the valley despite the fact that Christians are peace loving people and Christian educational institutions have contributed much to the people of Manipur by providing quality education in the state.
