Imphal, February 03 2020: Protection Officer (NIC), DCPU, Imphal East has informed that a baby boy (weighing 3.5 kg) was found abandoned inside a basket at Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai around 8 pm on February 1 .

The locals, who initially found the infant, handed the baby to Porompat PS and later to the Child Line, Imphal East and SAA, IE in the presence of CWC, IE at 11.30 pm .

Since then, the baby has been undergoing treatment at JNIMS NICU and is being jointly monitored by DCPU-IE and SAA, IE teams.

Any person(s) bearing valid proof of identity to support their relationship with the baby can seek their claim within two months from today and failing which the baby will be processed for adoption as per the guidelines of the Adoption Regulations Act 2017 .
