Woman files lawsuit against lover, father

Imphal, January 02 2014: A 21-year-old young woman has filed a lawsuit against her lover and his father under different sections of the IPC on various counts, including uploading exposed photos of their romantic episodes on the social networking site Facebook.

"I've filed a criminal case against Alam Rajak Makakmayum and his father in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal on December 31, 2013," Sana (not real name), the victim, who hails from Lilong in Thoubal district, Manipur, said while talking to the media at Uripok Cheirap Court complex here Thursday.

Flanked by her counsel, Khaidem Mani, Sana said that Lilong police has also started investigation into the case.

Accused Alam, a resident of Hatta Golabati in Imphal West, and Sana started their affair through Facebook and telephone since 2011.Alam is now staying in Pune for further study.

The victim is a student of Girls' College of Home Science at Central Agriculture University, Tura in Meghalaya.

A feud over the disagreement of marriage plan of the duo started after the accused allegedly raped the victim in a restaurant-cum-lodge hotel at Sundari Complex, Tura in September 2012 .

Alam visited the victim when they met inside the hotel.

There, she lost consciousness after having a cup of coffee, and then she was sexually assaulted by the accused.

He took photographs of almost all the scenes.

The victim, however, expressed her willingness to elope that day when Alam rejected the proposal convincing that they could do so after completion of their study.

The accused then uploaded the photos of the romantic episodes following a feud with the victim over the question of marriage.

Sana was trying to persuade Alam to keep his promise of marrying her.

Sana said that Alam's father, Abdur Rajak Makakmayum, had also threatened her not to disturb his son over the phone on December 23, 2013.
