Public alert meetings continue in different parts of Bpr and Tbl

The cease work strike, called by COCOMI across the State to mobilise and alert the public about the Indo-Naga peace talks that can potentially harm the territorial integrity and interest of Manipur, has affected normal life in Bishnupur district in a big way today.
Major markets in the districts including Kumbi market, Moirang market, Kwakta market, Ningthoukhong market, Bishnupur market, Oinam market and Nambol market wore a deserted look while shops remain closed during the cease work strike.

Various offices, Bank, Schools and Colleges of the district also witnessed minimum attendance while Inter-district and Inter-Village Passenger Service vehicles - Bus, Winger, Tata Magic, Iris, Auto etc, stayed off the road in support of the cease work strike.
However, numbers of private vehicles were seen plying on the road.
In support of the cease work strike, various Nupi Lup, Meira Paibi, women vendors etc, staged public alert protest at Nambol market.
Oinam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup in association with the Club, Organisation and Association of the region also jointly organized public alert meeting at Oinam market and raised slogans that the Framework Agreement should not have any impact against the interest of the public of Manipur.
Public of Toubul, in support of cease work strike called by COCOMI, blocked village road and staged sit-in protest.
Similar sit-in protest was also staged at Ningthoukhong market by the women folks.
Meira Paibi Lup and ELSA Club Naranseina also organized public alert meeting at Naranseina market while Good Karma Foundation, Thanga, All Thanga Nupi Lup, CSOs and the public of Thanga too organized alert meeting at Thanga Chinglak.
Placards which read as "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised by the final solution of Indo-Naga peace talk", "Save Manipur" etc were used during the protest.
Similar protest were also staged by the public of Thangalawai.
Torbung Area Joint Committee also organized public alert meeting at Torbung and Phougakchao Ikhai in support of cease work strike called by COCOMI.
Thoubal: The cease work striked called by COCOMI since October 31 as a preemptive measures and to alert the public about the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk which can have a major impact on the State's territorial integrity as well as the Administrative, Socio-Economic and Cultural set-up, has disturbed normal in Thoubal District.
Barring some private vehicles, most the road wore a deserted look during the strike while many protestors blocked road in different parts of Thoubal district.
Many Govt offices also recorded minimum attendance and students did not turn up to attend classes in schools.
Major markets at Thoubal, Yairipok, Wangjing, Khongjom etc, also wore deserted look and the shops remain closed.
Police personnel were deployed in different parts of the district to thwart any unwanted incidents.
Similar sit-in protest was also staged at Langmeithet.
Later, the protesters took out a protest rally to Pechi Chinglak.
Khong Ahanbi Nupi Marup, Khundongbam Leikai Meira Paibi Lup and Women Care Centre also jointly organized public alert meeting at Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi.
Meanwhile, public of Tentha blocked road halfway to stage public alert sit-in demanding that the final solution of Naga peace talk cannot compromise the interest of Manipur.
Tentha Apunba Meira Paibi in association with Ningol Lup Tentha and various clubs in Tentha jointly organized the sit-in protest at Tentha Khongbal and held placards which read as "The final solution of Indo-Naga peace talks cannot have any kind of impact on the territorial integrity and interest of Manipur", "Long Live Manipur" etc.
Sit-in protest were also staged at Thoubal Wangkhem and Aripat under Nongpok Sekmai PS .
