Chakpikarong students protest transfer of their teachers

In protest against the transfer of their teachers in the midst of academic session, students of Chakpikarong Government High School and Toupokpi Govt High School in Chandel District came out of their respective class rooms and staged sit-in-protest at the school premises today.
During the protest demonstration, parents of the students studying in the two schools also showed their solidarity holding placards and banners inscribed with 'No to transfer of teachers', 'We oppose transfer of teachers', 'Don't desert students on the way', 'Revoke transfer order', 'Implement RTE effectively', etc.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the protest, one of the students pointed out, "The two schools are facing problems due to transfer of teachers So, I appealed to the government and concerned authority to revoke the transfer order.
Because transferring teachers in the midst of academic session is a great loss for the students" .

Meanwhile, a joint team of BJP Chandel district unit and Anal Naga Chiefs' Association, Chakpikarong led by Tongsin Beton Anal, Vice President of Kishan Morcha Manipur Pradesh visited the Chakpikarong and Toupokpi Government High Schools.
Talking to media persons, the team leader charged the State Education Department with gross negligence and irregularities and pointed out that a teacher from Toupokpi high School, who had expired three years ago, was included in the transfer order.
Tongsin Beton lamented that in spite of the problem of shortage of teachers faced by the students in these two schools for a long time, the state government has issued the transfer order of some teachers recently instead of providing adequate teachers.
The education system in the state is not in a right direction as teachers were frequently transferred even in a midst of academic session, he observed, while alleging Govt of Manipur of being 'ignorant of RTE' .
Expressing dissatisfaction over the deteriorating education system in the state, Tongsin Beton also assured the Parents and the students that he will apprise the Governor of the State and Union HRD Minister regarding the prevailing education system through a memorandum.
President of Anal Naga Chiefs Association Chakpikarong RD Thumdang said that the association strongly objected to the transfer of teachers in a midst of academic session by the government/concerned department and warned that if the the concerned department fails to revoke the transfer order various intense agitations will be launched.
A decision to continue with the sit-in protest and boycott of classes has also been taken by the Association along with the students and parents, he informed.
It may be noted here that the Directorate of Education (S), Government of Manipur issued the transfer order of 30 teachers including 5 teachers from Chakpikarong Government High School and 4 teachers from Toupokpi Government High School on 26th August last.
