Imphal, June 01 2014:
The anti-Chaoba group of Manipur BJP on Sunday said that it hopes the State party president will be replaced as soon as a new national president of the ruling party is chosen.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh may be still the National president of the party, but he is likely to give up the post and facilitate election of a new president soon, the ant-Chaoba group maintained.
Former presidents of Manipur Pradesh BJP, Dr H Borobabu Singh, M Bhorot Singh and Shantikumar, who are now camping in New Delhi, have been exerting pressures on the national leadership of the party in a bid to oust Th Chaoba from the post of president of State BJP unit.
Chaoba, a former MP, has been facing backlash from the State BJP group led by the three former presidents.
They have accused Chaoba of being an incompetent leader who had shown disparity while distributing party tickets to the candidates for the recent Lok Sabha polls.
The party suffered defeat in the national election in both the Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies because of the dictatorial policy of Chaoba, the three former presidents of State BJP alleged.
Sources in the anti-Chaoba group said it has met several leaders of the party at the national level in New Delhi to convince them that the organizational activities of the State BJP will be seriously affected so long as Chaoba leads it.
They said the BJP national leadership has been considering their demand to remove Chaoba and it is expected to happen soon.
