Imphal, March 01 2024:
"Encroachers and foreign war mongers" should firmly be dealt with and deported to end the current conflict in Manipur, said the Association of Premier State College Seniors (APSCS) .
Speaking on the occasion of the association's foundation day, its general secretary, AK Chishti said the demand for a "Kukiland" and violence since May 3, 2023 has burnt down hundreds of houses and displaced thousands of people.
The "hidden enemies" are "encroachers and foreign war mongers".
The Centre and State Government should act before it is too late.
The foreigners should be firmly dealt with and deported to end the conflict, Chishti said.
Talking about recent developments amid the crisis, Chishti said the Centre's move to completely fence the border with Myanmar is welcomed.
Further, to bring about a solution, the Centre and the State Government should hold talks with all stakeholders, Chishti said.
He said no stakeholder should be sidelined and the Governments must draw a framework that would remove doubt and fear from the minds of the stakeholders.
"We cannot occupy land as we like.
The law is against this.
No Kukiland demand can be granted based on ethnicity or community of any kind," Chishti said.
