Students hospitalised after consuming Chagempomba

Eight students of Blooming Girls Hostel were admitted at District Hospital, Thoubal, with possible symptoms of food poisoning at around 10 am today, our correspondent reports.
All the eight girls are standard XII students of Fancier Abhiram Higher Secondary School.
They reportedly fell ill after consuming Chagempomba (a dish prepared with fermented soya bean) .
Soibam Tombisana, manager of Blooming Girls Hostel and a teacher at Fancier Abhiram Higher Secondary School said, "We bought soya beans and prepared Hawaijar (fermented soya bean) at the hostel as we did not want to buy them from unhygienic places.
All the students at the boarding, even the teachers ate the dish but only eight of them showed signs of food poisoning" .
Dr Biona, who is treating the girls said their conditions is stable and they will be discharged after 24 hours.
A team of Food Safety Department officials, Thoubal led by Food Safety Officer N Devendro Singh visited the students at the hospital and inquired about their health condition.
