Dengue control steps in place

People in the district of Churachandpur do not need to lose sleep over spread of Dengue in the district as the concerned Government departments have swung into action to control the disease, State Malaria Officer, Asem Ibochouba has stated on Wednesday.
The State Malaria Department had promptly given instruction to the concerned authorities of Churachandpur district to take up all possible measures to prevent spread of dengue vector after the department confirmed a positive case from the blood sample of a woman on October 24, Ibochouba told Newmai News Network this afternoon.
A team from District Malaria Office, Churachandpur visited Chengkonpa village near the district's Don Bosco School where a dengue case was officially confirmed, he said.
The team had carefully carried out water treatment and breeding area deduction in the village, he added.
The officer informed that since the dengue positive woman is now out of danger after giving proper medical treatment, people in the district do not need to worry about the disease because further reports of dengue case has not been officially detected in the district after the lone case.
Some blood samples collected from the area have not yet been sent to the State Malaria Department which in turn has to send the samples to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for necessary test, he further informed.
Ibochouba explained that a person suffering from common fever should not always be taken as a dengue case but if suspicions grow doctors should be consulted first.
He also advised the people to avoid from going straight to the laboratory for dengue test.
The State Malaria Officer added that so long as the mosquitoes carrying the virus are not present in any particular area, the presence of any person suffering from the disease in that area is alright.
People from the state staying in other states of India, particularly in Delhi, where rising cases of dengue have been reported, also do not require carrying out screening while returning home at the airport.
Meanwhile, District Malaria Officer, Churachandpur Dr P Nengzadou in an official report sent to the district Deputy Commissioner has informed the latter that staffs of the district Malaria Office are now persistently taking up all preventive measures following a case of dengue reported in the district.
