Imphal, April 30 2015 : One truck driver was electrocuted at Khongkhang near Tengnoupal in Chandel district at 4:30 pm on Wednesday.

The truck which he was driving was singed by the high tension electric current.

Police sources said that the deceased driver was identified as Thokchom Selungba (41) son of Late Thokchom Kanto (60) of Nongdam Awang Leikai.

The truck bearing registration number MN05C 1202 was halted at Khongkhang village following a minor hitch.

He crawled beneath the truck to check something there.

At that crucial moment the high tension transmission line was snapped by the sudden cyclonic storm and fell down on the truck.

The strong current which passed through the iron parts of the truck electrocuted him.

The owner of the truck was stated to be Takhellambam Ibomcha.The dead body was handed over to the family members after the post mortem.
