Imphal, February 28 2019:
The People Action Committee (PAC) formed in connection with the death of Pravish Chanam, has announced that its proposed Statewide total shutdown will be suspended temporarily in view of the class XI and XII examinations which are underway.
The PAC however warned said that it will never cease its movement until the murder case is handed over to CBI and justice is delivered.
Speaking to media persons at Mapari Ningshingkol near Uripok Cheirap Court complex today, the PAC convener L Pishu reacted strongly against the statement made by Chief Minister N Biren during the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly Session yesterday that the murder case of Pravish Chanam is being investigated by UP police, instead of the CBI.
Questioning the appropriate/suitable ground of handing over the murder case to the UP police, the convenor asked how can the fact/truth about the murder of Pravish Chanam be revealed if the case is investigated by the same police (UP police) who allegedly cremated Pravish Chanam's body even though missing reports of the victim along with necessary photos were given to all police stations of the State.
Hence, the State Government must constantly pressure the UP Government to hand over the case to CBI until it materialises, Pishu added.
He lamented that the State Government has now confused the people by saying that the CBI rejected the State Government's proposal to investigate the matter even though in the past, he (the CM) had claimed that the case had been handed over to the CBI.
The PAC and various CSOs along with the people will continue to hold agitation till the case is handed over to CBI and justice is delivered, he added.
