Imphal, January 31 2017:
Workers' Union Manipur has vehemently condemned the death of two abducted workers and refused to agree that the workers were killed in alleged cross firing.
While staging a sit-in protest at Khwairamband Thong Nambonbi, members of Workers' Union Manipur, Loumee Shinmee Apunba Lup, Manipur (LOUSAL) and KEDO said that the incident is very unfortunate and it is saddening to hear the baseless claim that the two abducted workers were killed in an alleged cross firing at Moulsohoi vilage.
K London, one of the members who took part in the sit-in protest said that most of the workers who travel to remote areas of the State to earn belong to very poor families.
He said that cases of phyical assault and verbal abuse on the workers are being reported every now and then.
It is not the time for the State Government to remain silent.
Involved group(s) should be pulled up at the earliest and befitting actions should be taken up, he added.
