Ukhrul celebrates Christmas with pomp and gaiety

Ukhrul, December 31 2019: To mark the birthday of Jesus Christ, people of Ukhrul has celebrated Christmas with much fanfare and gaiety.

Christmas is a week-long celebration for the Tangkhul Christian community.

More than 20 Churches were established in Ukhrul town.

Apart from the celebration, the Churches also organised sport competition event during Christmas season.

Sporting competitions such as football, volley ball, basket ball and table tennis were organised and sponsored by the Church during the whole week.

It might be mentioned that the first established Church of Manipur, Phungyo Baptist Church (PBC), Tangrei, Ukhrul also organised various competitions and events.

Among all, fancy dress competition was the most popular and attractive Christmas event in Ukhrul.

The participants portrayed different characters and exhibited their talents, thereby entertaining the crowd.

Jaggery/chinigur was also served to all the people at the celebration venue.

The Church also arranged a literary competition for children and the youths.

Bible quiz, declamation, skit and Christian hymn song competitions were also held.
