MPTC decries attack on its President

Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) has condemned the attack on its President Kim Gangte by some suspected bandh supporters at Naoremthong Junction in the afternoon of December 24 .
In a statement, General Secretary of the party Neli Mao informed that on December 24 at around 2.30 pm, Kim Gangte was returning home after holding a press conference on the Chandel incident when she was attacked by suspected bandh supporters at Naoremthong Junction.
As she was attacked, Kim Gangte stopped her Bolero and enquired why she was being attacked as the bandh had already been lifted.
As she was explaining, her vehicle was completely smashed and her 19-year old nephew who was driving the vehicle was dragged out and beaten black and blue.
The alleged bandh supporters also took away two mobile phones (one Vodafone and the other Airtel), some cash and other important items which were kept in her hand bag inside the smashed vehicle.
The Airtel mobile has been issued by the Ministry of Railways as she is a member of Passengers Services Committee, the statement said, adding that the mob also hurled abusive words at Kim Gangte.
MPTC has also appreciated the OC of Lamphel Police Station and his team for their timely arrival at the scene and rescuing the party president.
