PM's address on Teachers' Day to be telecast live
Schools instructed to arrange TV sets to ensure all students watch and listen it

All schools in Manipur have been instructed to make arrangements for Television sets in their premises to enable the students listen to the prime minister's address on Teachers' Day, 5th September from 3.00 pm to 4.45 pm.
An office memorandum issued today by Principal Secretary (School Education), Government of Manipur said that after the prime minister's address, students can also participate in personal interactions with the prime minister through satellite links at NIC centre.
The Speech of the prime minister and the interaction programme will be telecast live through all regional and national channels of Doordarshan from 3 pm to 4.45 pm on 5th September.
The school management committees will assist the heads of the institutions in ensuring that all students watch the Prime Minister's address to be followed by an interaction programme, the memorandum said, while instructing the school authorities to make necessary arrangements for reception of signals through DTH, cable or Ariel Antenna.
The responsibilities for smooth arrangement of the programme rest with the Deputy Commissioners, Zonal Education Officers, Heads of schools and School Management Committees, it further said.
Instructing all students and teachers to assemble in front of TV sets by 2.30 pm, the office memorandum said that 'at places where TV signals are hard to reach, the same may be disseminated by using All India Radio with loud speaker' .
Conveying that trial for all arrangements should be complete by September 4, the memorandum also ordered all Deputy Commissioners to coordinate with the concerned heads of schools in their respective jurisdiction.
Further, the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to furnish an action plan on the arrangements to the Principal Secretary, Education (S) on September 1 and inability of any school to make the arrangement should be brought to notice before September 2 .
The memorandum also instructed the schools to submit reports with photographs and video documentations mentioning number of children who watch the PM address and who take part in interaction to the office of Education (S), Government of Manipur on the same day through email, sms or fax.
The school timing on September 5, Teachers' day will be 12 noon to 5.00 pm, according to the office memorandum which also said Mid-day meal should be served with special menu on the day.
It also asked the school authorities to maintain celebration mood among the students and the fund required for the arrangement may be met from school management grant.
Purchase of TV sets or generators for the purpose is not allowed, they are to be hired locally, the memo added.
