Tree saplings planted at Kongba Maru Laiphamlen

Imphal, August 28 2022: Volunteers of Sinam Village Yumnam Khunou, Sporting Association Kongba Maru (SAK) and Kongba Maru Laiphamen Apunba Semgat Lup carried out a tree sapling plantation drive at Kongba Maru Laiphamlen today.

It may be noted that the plantation drive was conducted with the goal of mitigating the effects ofclimate change in Manipur.

Speaking by the sideline of the tree plantation effort, Angom Geetchandra, Nongmaiching Forest Range Officer stated that certain unscrupulous individuals treat the forest land as their own property and cut down scores of precious trees.

Stating that such actions are punishable under the Manipur Forest Act 1971 and Manipur Forest Land Protection Act 1986, he urged people to help conserve the pristine natural beauty of the forests.

Luwangcha Ningthemjao, leader, Kongba Maru Apunba Semgat Lup lauded the effort and expressed appreciation towards the Forest Range Officers for partaking in the event.

Notably, around 130 saplings including those of trees and fruit bearing trees were planted today.
